Isla Del Leyendas: Part 19

Gary had been watching the fight, unsure of what was going on, but when Ash had been trapped…

“You little rat, I was willing to let you live, like all the others, but no, you had to be extra stubborn didn’t you.” Kale kicked Ash in the chest, Ash cried out in pain as Gary heard something crack ominously.

Gary had to step in, he couldn’t let this creep kill Ash.

“Leave him alone!” Gary shouted, revealing himself.

Kale had kicked his arse in less then thirty seconds.

“I guess I’ll finish you first!” The freak had snarled. Gary had scrunched up his eyes, in preparation.

“NO!” Ash had cried.

Then Gary had heard a pained moan, and his eyes shot open.

Ash was stood in front of him, he’d taken the blow for him…

And now he was being drained like the other Trainer.

Kale punched Ash in the face and Gary saw Ash slip into unconsciousness, then Kale turned back to him and he forced himself to get to his feet. Kale had smirked, and turned away, “You’re not worth the effort, I have bigger fish to fry.”

Kale had headed the way the other Trainers had gone.

“Ash!” Gary reached the boy’s side first, quickly followed by Iason. Gary was relived for only a short while when he found Ash’s pulse, it was getting slower, and slower, and his breathing shallower. “No…no…” Gary realised what was happening.

“That Bastard!” Iason had snarled, and gone after Kale.

“Ash, no, you can’t die now.” Gary pleaded with his friend, “Misty’s waiting for you to come home, come on, you’re stronger then this. Ash… Your friends, your Pokemon need you to hang on, you need to be here, don’t die on us now.”

Ash’s only response was his breathing… slowing almost to a stop.

Gary knew he couldn’t move the boy, in case he made the injuries worse, but…

If they stayed there, Ash would die…

For once in his life, Gary Oak had no clue what to do.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ash was floating. The pain that had ripped through him just seconds before, was gone, and, for the first time since his fight with Greg in the Arceus Chamber, his mind was fully alert and aware.

‘Trainer of Lugia, you have done all you can, come home now.’

“Who are you?” Ash asked, confused.

‘That is not important, what is, is that you’ve fought with everything you have, and now it’s time to rest.’

Ash’s eyes shot open as everything came flooding back to him, he was floating in an area that looked kind of like the inside of a cloud. He sat up, and was surprised when he didn’t move from the spot he’d been floating in. He had to ask one simple question… “Am I dead… again?”

‘Nearly, your mortal form is dying. Come home, Ash Ketchum, others will pick up from where you left off.’

“No.”

‘No? You’d rather go back and prolong the inevitable?’

“I’d rather go back and fight alongside my friends.”

‘But all of your Pokemon have fainted, even Pikachu.’

“I don’t care, I have to go back. He’s too strong for even one of us to back down now. Our forces are spread too thin between fighting him and stopping the legendaries, we need every man.”

‘You were the last to lose your gifts, do you really think you can win without them?’

“Yes.”

‘You once said that you’d be willing to die again to save the world, does this still stand?’

“If my family, friends and Pokemon were safe, yes.”

‘In that case I will grant you my gifts, for this battle, and this battle only, but it is only a temporary measure, you would be living on borrowed time, one way or the other, there is no coming back after this battle. Do you understand this?’

“I do.” Ash was afraid, but knew they needed every bit of strength they could muster. “But who are you?”

‘Close your eyes, Ash Ketchum, Chosen of Lugia, and reawaken in the world, as Ash Ketchum, Chosen of Arceus!’
